As landscape architects we invest a good deal of thought and time into our designs yet very little if any time is devoted to how our landscapes are maintained. As we expand into resiliency design, it’s crucial that we understand environmental conditions and integrate maintenance strategies early on to ensure the longevity and success of our landscapes. This session considers current projects where maintenance concerns are integral to the design process. Practical and implementable strategies for maintenance and monitoring will also be discussed.

This course will provide 1 Continuing Education Credit.

Sally Coyle, ASLA, CLARB 

President

Sally Coyle, ASLA, CLARB, is a cofounding principal with Coyle & Caron, a WBE and award-winning landscape architecture studio located in Orlando. Coyle & Caron is dedicated to creativity, design excellence, and collaboration. Sally uses her nearly thirty years of experience to lead multi-disciplinary teams in the design and planning of public and private places focused on environmental stewardship, species and habitat conservation, learning, social engagement, and play.

Sally’s experience is also informed by research, writing, travel and teaching including as a guest critic at University of California Berkeley, University of Florida, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Harvard GSD and as an instructor at Boston Architectural College, RISD and Harvard GSD.

Brendan Huggins

Brendan Huggins has 15 years of experience in all aspects of horticulture and management at public gardens. He joined Bok Tower Gardens in 2019 as Director of Horticulture where he oversees staff in the historic gardens and ‘ecotype’ landscapes. Prior to moving to Florida, he was Director of Horticulture at Moore Farms Botanical Garden. Brendan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management from the University of Delaware.

Timothee Sallin

Timothee Sallin is Co-CEO of Cherrylake Inc, an integrated environmental horticulture and landscape company and subsidiary of IMG Enterprises Inc., a family-owned Florida agriculture company.  Timothee has twenty years of experience in diversified agri-business operations. He is Secretary of 1000 Friends of Florida, and a graduate from New College at USF, where he earned a degree in Economics and International Studies.
